An agent for text analysis

Bring out what's latent in the text.

A Pen is a private workspace where an agent powered by a large language model (LLM) reads your texts, notes and data with you. It cites the page, line or record behind every claim, it can't get out on its own, and it writes down everything it did.

See what's inside

Call me Ishmael. Some years ago — never mind how long precisely — having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore,

I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world.

The Pen

Everything the agent needs, and nothing it doesn't

Every Pen is the same, so there is nothing to configure: open one and start reading. It sleeps when nobody is using it and wakes where it left off.

texts

Your files, read properly

Upload PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CSV or plain text. The agent searches, reads, counts and compares across all of them, and cites file and line. Risky formats are opened in a separate, disposable reader, never inside the Pen.

data

A database to question

Tables loaded by the instructor are searchable by full text and by SQL, read-only. Ask in plain English; the agent shows the queries behind its figures.

thorough

Every passage, not the first few

For questions about every file or every mark, the agent works through all of them and reports its coverage, instead of answering from the first matches it finds.

sealed

No way out on its own

Each Pen runs in its own small virtual machine with no direct internet access and no keys inside. Every model call, search and query goes through code outside the Pen, which carries it out and records it.

web

The web, with guardrails

Web search, and opening only the pages a search returned or the reader typed. Everything else is refused, and the refusal is recorded.

record

A record you can cite

Each answer ends with a check written by LatentPen, not by the model: what was called, what failed, what was saved.

Marginalia

The second text in every book

Writers read with a pen in hand. Their underlinings, marks and notes, once transcribed into a database, become something you can question at scale: which passages a reader marked, how their marks change across a book or a life, and where they echo in what the reader wrote.

“Which passages did the reader mark most often, and do any of them echo in the reader's own work?”

The agent answers questions like this from the whole database, shows its queries, and quotes the passages, so the evidence stays checkable.

How it's built

On Cloudflare's developer platform

Each Pen is a Container behind its own Durable Object; uploads and encrypted snapshots live in R2; the shared tables are SQLite in a Durable Object; the model is Claude, reached through Workers AI and AI Gateway.
